"1 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 2 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 3 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."
As I mentioned in Verse-a-Day #90, the book of James is clearly written to believers/Christians. We see this because James says over and over in the book "my brethren" before stating various truths in chapters. This does not mean James is writing to his physical brothers, but to his spiritual brothers, and sisters in Christ Jesus. If you have not yet made the decision to repent and ask Christ to come into your life, make sure to let one of the Verse-a-Day authors know, we would be very happy to give you some advice and help you out.
Let's get straight to the verse!
"In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
This is showing what I mentioned before, that trials will actually prove that you are truly a Christian, if you endure them, and have joy.
So, in closing, there are plenty of things that we can have Joy about, and praise God for in trials! Cause we know that we will grow spiritually out of it, it will work out for the best if we are a true Christian, and that even if we don't quite know how it will be during the trial. We also learn to trust God more, and realize we need to rely on Him, because there are going to be tough times that we can't handle ourselves, and we need to trust God in them.
Thanks for reading! If you have any questions whatsoever, make sure to let any of the Verse-a-Day authors know, we would be glad to help you.
