It has always been a constellation, but never a zodiac.
Click here for more info on Ophiuchus!
On Wikipedia, I found this article:
"Despite crossing the ecliptic, Ophiuchus was not included in standard astrological zodiacs, which divide the ecliptic into abstract 30-degree segments (for twelve equal signs)."'
The astronomers said this. Definition of astronomy: The scientific study of celestial objects (such as stars, planets, comets, nebulae, star clusters and galaxies) and phenomena that originate outside the Earth's atmosphere.
But look what astrology means: A belief that the position of celestial bodies is useful for understanding or interpreting information about a person's life.
Which also means horoscope.
The astronomers found out that in 2011 the stars would be arranged differently--or something-- so they figured "Hmm, we might as well make a new sign called Ophiuchus!"
The astrologers say "No. This is not true. We study the signs, not them."
So as you can see, I was a Cancer, and I still am a Cancer. Don't worry-- you are still the same you were when you were born.
