Holiday Party- Another Great Way to End the Year
Penguins near and far gathered to celebrate one of the largest parties of the year: The Holiday Party! From December 15th to the 27th, penguins were able to help deliver presents, skate around the dock, and submit coins for the Coins for Change movement.
"The party was awesome!" said one penguin. "I especially like the play. Those penguins sure did a good job."
Even the igloos were decorated when the Holiday Decorating Contest was announced. Alone or together penguins put up lights, decorated the trees, and build armies of snowmen.
"I'm just glad no one got hurt this year. Gave me a heart attack each time I say a penguin balancing atop a ladder fighting with a couple yards of lights. It's just not worth a broken flipper this time of year." said one penguin.
Refreshments were served in the Coffee Shop, an endless bound of cookies eaten. To count the days off towards Christmas, there was even an advent calendar. For twelve days every penguin collected a special surprised, ending with a rather awesome Gingerbread Man costume.
So, what was your favorite part of the party?

Goal Reached! Successful Coins for Change!
2011 marked another successful year for Coins for Change. The Lighthouse overflowed with coins as penguins joined together to fight a trio of causes. Thanks to the Coins for Change project nearly four and a half million dollars have been donated around the world to fight disease, build schools, and to protect the environment. This year, the 5th annual Coins for Change, two million dollars were split up and donated to three causes: Building safe places, providing medical help, and protecting the Earth. This year $620,000 went to building safe places, $640,000 went to providing medical help, and $740,000 went to protecting the Earth. Good job Club Penguin! Together we can make a difference on both the Island and Earth. Give yourselves a round of applause! But don't stop here, get together with friends and family to volunteer in your community! Plant a tree, volunteer at a Soup Kitchen, the possibilities are endless!

Interview with Aunt Arctic
Today I sat down with Aunt Arctic to ask her opinion about the Holiday Party.
Me: Hello Aunt Arctic! Did you have a good time at the Holiday Party? If so what was your favorite part?
Aunt Arctic: I had a wondrous time! It was so great to get out of my igloo and explore the island, meet new friends, and eat delicious cookies! The bakers really out did themselves this year in the Coffee Shop. The eggnog? Simply delightful! And you know me, I always enjoy an excuse to get out away from my typewriter once in a while.
Me: I'm glad you had a great time, but is a little frightening with all those penguins eager to meet you?
Aunt Arctic: It can be a little over whelming, but every penguin just wants to have a good time! Besides its nice to meet new penguins. They always have the most interesting stories to tell and I can always collect a few more questions for the Club Penguin Times. I think I'm set for the next two months!
Me: That's great! Is there any advice you want to give to any journalists out there?
Aunt Arctic: Hun, I could write a book of advice. First off: write, write, write. Find your style and explore the possibilities! Read a lot of books. Explore different styles, it helps you find your own. And of couse practice writing. Grammar and spelling are a pain, but you have to know the rules before you can break them.
Me: Well thank you so much for coming in for a little chit chat!
Aunt Arctic: My pleasure. Waddle On!

Storm Coming?
Storm clouds are building over the Island. Looks like the Island is in for one nasty winter storm. Penguins are crowding the Cove in order to battle the growing swells and waves. At the dock many penguins are flying their kites, that is, if the wind does not destroy the fragile toys.
"I'm ready for some snow!" said one penguin eagerly about the race of into the water. "But for now, the waves are the biggest they've been since the summer!"
"I'm not too happy about the growing crowds. I'm afraid something is going to happen-soon. We have three boats continuously watching the surfing community as well as a number of lifeguards on duty watching the surf." announced the chief lifeguard.
Right now the weather looks dreary, but keep your heads up penguins! Bundle up and prepare for the worst, after all can it be as bad as the snow storm before the 2008 Holiday Party? We'll find out pretty soon, but for now keep those snow shovels handy!
