#9 Our Forum Rules
Posted by Thinknoodles
on 23 April 2010 - 07:03 AM
We feel these guidelines will be useful for the Moderators in terms of managing the forums, but just as importantly, we hope they provide users a point of reference with which to understand the basic nature of CPI and also to gauge why a post may have been moderated. The ultimate aim of it all though is to enable you to ENJOY contributing to CPI and for others to ENJOY your contributions.
What is set out below is not an absolute set of rules and regulations. It will be necessary at times to moderate posts for reasons that are not outlined below.
Absolutely NOT: Things deemed to be totally unacceptable:
- Posting Personal Information (last name, age, city, school, phone number, etc)
- Posting Personal Pictures (or pictures of friends, family, etc, anyone who is not a celebrity)
- Sharing e-mail addresses or IM accounts.
- Pornographic material
- Racism
- Overt personal abuse or threats to other posters or staff
- Swearing (There are kidz here for Heaven's Sake!)
- Harassment of other users or posting anything which would invade their privacy
- Spam (including Chain Letters)
- Commercial advertising
- Registering and using duplicate accounts after being banned or for any reason.
- Creating fake news or doctoring of images.
- Discussion of Club Penguin cheating software.
- Relationship and dating talk.
- All other breaches of the basic Forum Terms & Conditions in place at your time of registration or at any time during your membership of CPI.
Guidelines: Things we'd rather you not do:
- Creating duplicate threads -- Before starting a new thread use the search feature to check that the subject of your intended post is not already covered by an existing thread. Post to existing threads wherever possible.
- Starting threads in the wrong forum -- We believe the board descriptions on the index page are fairly self explanatory, but feel to ask a mod if you aren't sure.
- Using 'Text Speak' in your posts -- Please take the time to write replies in English.
- Posting entirely in capital letters -- Please do not post the subject or content of your posts entirely in capital letters. It scares us.
- Being rude to fellow members -- You don't like being called names or pushed around, please treat others as you would like them to treat you!
- Thread domination -- Do not try to bully someone into submission or disparage every comment they make, simply because their views may differ from your own. Write a coherent reply setting out your views and then let others have their say.
- Anonymous Sourcing -- If you copy and paste an article, piece of news or rumor to the forum please include a link to the original website source or explain where and the context of how you heard the story.
- Talking about or asking about banned members -- Bannings are between the member and the staff
- Do not remove any Moderated posts made by staff members.
If you ignore any of the ABSOLUTELY NOT rules, you'll be moderated in one of the following ways:
- Temporary or Full access ban.
- Temporary posting ban.
If you continue to ignore the Guidelines, you'll will find yourself being moderated in the same manner as if you violated one of the ABSOLUTELY NOT rules.
The above may also apply to posts reported to us via the 'Report To Moderator' feature.
What you can expect from us:
- Where possible/applicable, new users will be given a polite pointer to these guidelines if we deem it necessary.
- An explanation as to why you have been temporarily/permanently banned/had posting rights removed.
- We won't notify people of every little modification/deletion/merging activity.
Also, we reserve the right to edit or remove any content we determine to be inappropriate including, but not limited to, posts, avatars, signatures, attachments, embedded pictures, links, etc.
#8628 All About Reputation
Posted by Bridget
on 03 May 2010 - 03:37 PM
First off, here's how to give someone a reputation:

The picture pretty much explains it. Once you click the little green and white plus sign (+), a little green loading sign might pop up at the top of your screen for a second, and then the number in the box next to the plus sign will go up.
You can only give one reputation for each post.
The more reputation you get, the higher the number will be. You can view how much rep you have by...
Go to your profile and scroll down until you see your About Me page. Next to it will show a box with your rep number

*this part is still in progress*
With your first reputation, your rep status will be neutral.
Once you have ten or more, it will change to good.
Once you get to 20, you get the rank of excellent (thanks Eli2tyree!)
I've been looking around, and it seems that and amount of reputation over 20 is excellent.
Remember to give rep to helpful or nice people, and make sure you don't mix up rep with reporting, that's a whole different story!
It doesn't matter how much reputation you have, but it's always good to be helpful!

#90788 Club Penguin Insiders Coins
Posted by Fang
on 07 May 2011 - 12:49 PM
CPI is introducing a new online virtual currency for use on the forums, for those familiar with WI Bucks, it's the same thing! Through activities on the forum you can earn Coins to spend in the marketplace to earn all sorts of cool items! You can invest in banks to save money or invest in stocks, with plenty of ways to earn and spend coins, there is always much to do!
Earning Coins
To be able to spend coins, you need to earn them first! It's really easy though you can earn coins from any of the following activities:
Creating Topics
Making forum posts (Best way to earn coins, different forums earn you a different number of coins - coins per post range from 2 to 40)
Earning Reputation
Giving reputation
Posting profile messages (You will only receive points for one profile message per hour)
Receiving profile message (You will only receive points for one profile message per hour)
Referring users
Receiving donations from users
Entering the random points raffle
Investing in Banks
Investing in stocks
Every time you do one of the above actions, a different number of coins are added to your account depending on the activity! That's all there is to earning coins, just carry on using the forum as you normally do and watch your coins add up!
You do not receive coins for using the Private Messaging System
The more active you are on the forums the more coins you earn to spend on items!
Spending Coins
You can buy items at the Marketplace, you can visit there by clicking the link title Marketplace in the forum's main menu.
In the market place you can control how you spend your coins. Spending coins can be a little bit confusing so read below carefully!
- Shop
- All items are bought from the Shop. To find the Shop go to the Marketplace (using the link at the top) and click on the tab titled "Shop".
- Each category (e.g. Profile Changes) has items inside it, click on different category names to see the items inside,
- Or you can click on all items on the left sidebar to view every available item!
To buy an item, enter the number of that item you want to buy in the box next to "Purchase Quantity" and click "Add to cart"
For example if you wanted to buy 3 of the "Change Avatar" item you would put 3 in the box next to Purchase Quantity and then click the blue "Add to Cart" button.
A cart is just like a really life shopping cart, you put the items you want to buy inside and then you take it to the checkout. This way it saves you time if you are buying multiple items!
After that you can return to add more items to your cart, or buy the items you already have in your cart.
To pay for your items you can click the Cashier tab at the top what is in your cart.
To buy the items in your cart click the blue button labelled 1-click purchase.
Items you buy are not automatically used
To use an item go to the My Portfolio Tab and then click My Shop Items
Click on the name of the item you want to use and then press the blue button labelled Use Item
Banks
You can invest your money in banks, they work the same way as in real life.
First you need to choose a bank and open a bank account.
You then can choose how many of your coins you want to deposit

#217437 Let's Talk About The Membership Generator..
Posted by Ashley Fablecakes
on 12 October 2012 - 07:39 AM
Let's talk about our fabulous Membership Generator today. I love contests, and we give away a lot of cool prizes on our Insider websites. But it's really important that you don't abuse the privilege of having that contest hosted. You may be wondering what a privilege is - it's something that isn't a right, or something that has to be given, but something that is given to a group of special individuals usually in agreement that they will have good behavior.
Pssst... guess what! That special group is our Insider Penguins. It's not promised that you will win a code, or have a chance to win a code, but there are some agreements that you make by entering this contest every day. Sometimes those rules are confusing, so I'm going to explain them here a little bit and hopefully we can move on and do good penguin behavior.
Rule one of the contest is - Be logged in to the Club Penguin Insiders Forum: Okay, this is simply enough. You have to have an account & be logged in in order to enter our contest. So be sure to log in & say hi every day!
Rule two is - Have at least 10 posts: This means you need TEN posts to enter. Not TEN a day, but ten posts overall. I think that is pretty easy to achieve, and most of you will have that by now. Unless you are new... if you are new - introduce yourself & say hi to our members!
THIS IS THE BIG RULE: Have made at least 5 non-spam posts today. OK, You can't spam to enter the contest. That means, when you make a thread every day asking for membership and then posting things like "hi" "lol" "ahwerkhr" "u funny" "membership pls" "pls pls pls" you won't get to enter. I know that sounds harsh, but that is the rules of the contest. You need to stop spamming the forum to try and enter - because it won't let you enter to win otherwise and your posts will simply be removed.
Not be Graser10 If you are not Graser10 - you can enter.
Hope this helps you all understand the rules. Please do not spam or ask for membership to be given to you. And PLEASE do not ask to trade codes for membership, this may lead to scamming and something we really want to avoid. If someone is asking for you to send your membership code to them secretly, I would strongly advise you do not do this. If someone asks for your eMail address to send a code to you - REPORT THEM! That is not allowed.
Thanks Penguins! You're all super stars.

Click "Edit Profile" in the right corner of your profile, it's pretty easy to find.
You should come to your User CP, on the tabs, click on "Blogs".

You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you.
[ ]I have read, understood and agree to these terms of the Blog usage
It'll take you back to the blogs page but you'll be able to update more stuff, it should show a block that has whatever title you named your blog and you can go to "Options" you can choose to post a new entry, from there you can enter anything you want, add a poll and post it. Save the draft, then go to options again and select to publish your entree.

#283664 Why Swearing Is Against The Rules On This Forum
Posted by Ovgreat
on 04 March 2013 - 08:11 AM
Hey everyone! I don't know if this has been posted before but I haven't seen one so I will post this so that there's a better chance that everyone will see this. OK, anyway, recently I've seen a bit of swearing and using words that aren't necessarily swearing, but aren't acceptable to be posted. So, I'm gonna make it obvious why you shouldn't use them.
Here are some of the many reasons not to swear:
Reason #1: We all want the forum to be known as a safe place and where parents don't have to worry about their kids seeing bad stuff. That way the forum will get bigger with more members each day. If we have a lot of bad stuff, parents will look around and see them and not let their kids on anymore.
Reason #2: If we see those stuff enough, the words could easily get stuck in our heads and that's not a good thing to be thinking about all the time.
Reason #3: I'm sure that there are lots of younger kids here and if they see that then they might be saying it without even knowing what it means.
Reason #4: This is a lot like #3. There are lots of guests as you can see. Probably lots of those guests would like to be a member but are too young too. We don't want them to see these words and then start saying it without even knowing what it means.
Reason #5: Thank you RainbowBlaze for reminding me of this one:
When people swear, it's usually because they're angry, or they just like saying them. But what most people don't know is, all the swear words have a secret subliminal message in them, usually directing to adult purposes. And kids shouldn't find out what those purposes are, without being old enough to ask.
Reason #6: Thank you Ruthron for reminding me of this one: The swearing also not necessary for posting. You don't NEED to use swearing to get your feelings across.
Reason #7: Thank you Miramu for telling me of this one:
Another reason is that, some people can get really offended by swearing. Sometimes people offend others by swearing without even knowing it, and sometimes they will say the words just because they heard other people say it.
Reason #8: Thank you Zac Ron for telling me this one:
Swearing influences aggressive behaviour and can cause arguments.
Totally! Swearing causes more arguments!
And one more thing, things like this, " _*** " with one letter in front of the * 's are also bad because people will see those and know what word you are meaning to say but just not fully saying it. And also like this, " $#@*! " also are bad.
Please tell me if you think that there is another reason that I forgot.
I hope this helped! ![]()
#260598 Reminder: What Is Really Spam, Criticizing Others Work And Correcting Grammar
Posted by Country Gal Forever
on 21 January 2013 - 10:27 AM
Let's start off with spam. A lot of people think that creating duplicate threads is spam, this is not always true. If it is 100% copied without a single change in it at all then it would be considered spam. If they are posting things like "How to be a better member" or "Tips for newbies" that are similar, but not exactly the same, they are not against the rules. These kinds of threads are greatly appreciated on here and it doesn't matter how many of them there are. My suggestion to you would be to just let the Insider Agents and Administrators handle the spam. It's really not necessary to be posting "This is spam". If we think it's spam then it will be removed as quickly as possible.
The next subject is criticizing other members work. Criticizing other members work can create hard feelings and disagreements between members. There is no need to go to someone's graphic shop, story or artwork and tell them "This is horrible. You need to change this and that and this looks sloppy and unfinished." Not everyone wants to be told this. Members put a lot of time and effort into their projects and they don't always want criticizing remarks posted on their threads. If the member specifically said that you are welcome to give them tips on how to improve then you may do so, just make sure you do it in a nice manner. If you are unhappy with a graphic that you ordered from a shop then feel free to them what's wrong, just do it in a kind, friendly way.
The final topic I want to cover is correcting others grammar. Unless the member asked you to tell them when they spelled something wrong or didn't use proper punctuation or something like that, then please don't bug them about it. Not everyone has perfect grammar and must of the time they realize it, but they don't always want to be criticized about it 24/7. This is also something that can create arguments or hard feelings.
So all in all, please think before you post. If you have any questions about something then feel free to ask me.
#326893 Reminder: Keep Cpi Kid Friendly
Posted by Chilly0ne
on 12 May 2013 - 04:57 PM
I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I think it could be said again even if it has. ![]()
First of all this is not directed at any specific members. I just want to make sure everyone (including new members) keeps this in mind. It is very important to keep what you say and post kid friendly. This means how you act, what pictures you post, and what you say. We all want CPI to be as safe as it can possibly be.
Saying a cuss word is very offensive, even if you don't mean it or are just saying it to make someone laugh. CP is meant for kids between 6-14 years old. If a 6 year old sees a cuss word on here they probably won't know what the word means. They might think it is funny and then go around saying that word. They might even be banned from CP for trying to say it. Our words have great importance.
What stories you tell are also very important. You might post something you joked about with your friend, or you might have made your teacher upset, but he/she knew you were joking. This is also a bad idea. You may be known as a joking type of person, or everyone knows not to take you seriously, but some kids aren't. If a student/friend were to try this that wasn't known for making jokes, everyone would think they were serious. This could cause them to lose a friend or even be expelled from school. Yes, it could easily lead someone to that point. If you want to talk about that stuff at least keep it in a private message. ![]()
Be nice to other members. You would not believe how showing or not showing kindness could affect someone's life. You never know what is going on in their life. You have no idea whether someone was bullied, completely ignored, never loved by a family member, or what could have gone on before they joined. If you show kindness to each other you could make someone so overjoyed. But if you are mean to someone it could cause them to feel horrible, even to the point of thinking about suicide. Don’t think I’m joking when I say that, it really could.
What pictures you post are also have meaning. Don’t post things that are even a little disturbing. This includes dead things, shirtless men, girls in bikinis, etc. Even if you don’t find them disturbing, other members might. Some parents don’t want their kids to see those types of images and we want those same kids to be safe on CPI. If you want to share those type of pictures keep it in a PM with people you know aren’t disturbed by them.
We all want CPI to be the best place it can, keeping these in mind will help. By understanding this you could help someone feel happy. I know you'd all like that, right? Just remember we have lots of people watching us and what we post. ![]()

I haven't been on very much lately, and I hear that some of you have been wondering exactly why that is. Well, I'd like to explain. I'm going to do my best not to give too much personal information.
I've been on Club Penguin Insiders for A LONG time. I really really like this site, and I'm sad I'm going to be leaving so soon.
Now, to the reasons I'm leaving. The first one is because I can't be on here and earn any kind of salary, and I'm saving for a lot of things such as a car, college, and maybe in the future a home, so I really need to spend my time working on either a career or at real work. I've had a part-time job for nearly 2 years, so I make a little off that. However, I really need to have a full time job to really support a family. As some of you may know I am planning on working as a Web Developer full time. I have been taking Web Design for almost a full year. I've learned a whole lot about Web Development and some serious programming(In PHP especially).
I've decided to develop my Web Design experience, which involves lots of work on several websites I'm going to be publishing this summer. I also have school to keep up with as well as a part-time job. This leaves me very little time to get on the forums. I'm going to probably get on every once in a while, but my time on here is going to be reduced a whole lot. I'm really going to miss you all, and I've met a whole lot of awesome friends, but it's time to move on. I'm looking to Lord willing have a family of my own in just a few years, I'm working on my career as I mentioned, and I have plenty of other things to do.
Lately I really think the Lord has shown me that Web Developing is most likely my future for work, and that I need to move on from CPI. I talked to Thinknoodles, and working here as an Administrator, but he said is pretty much not possible. Recently at work I received an offer for an internship in Web Design. I'm going to be meeting with a man in about a month who also is offering internship in Web Design. He has some of the best Web Developers and programmers in the Country, so that will be a great experience for me as well.
Thanks, you guys are all awesome!
