“Signal Detected” Match the Frequency Cheats

The dreaded “Signal Detected” Club Penguin Field Ops Mission minigame is (as of April, 2011) currently the most difficult Field Ops minigame. Below is a complete guide to the game, along with Club Penguin mission cheats on how to complete the mission!

Reading the initial instructions, the Club Penguin mission seems like it will be very easy, but once you start trying, you find that it is much harder. The instructions read, “Match the frequency. Tune the radio scanner to match the frequency number. Be precise – you need to stop the scanner at the exact number.”

The instructions aren’t very descriptive, and are even a little bit misleading if you haven’t tried this mission before! As hard as this mission is, it makes it essential that you know all of the mission cheats in order to succeed!

Mission Cheats

Minigame Basic Cheats

1. You need to match the frequency correctly 10 times to beat the mission.
2. You can only miss the frequency 3 times before you fail the mission.
3. There are 4 levels of difficulty as you progress through the minigame.
   • There are 4 frequencies at level 1, 3 frequencies at level 2, 2 frequencies at level 3 and 1 frequency at level 4.
   • Harder levels make the scanner needle range smaller.
   • Harder levels change the speed and direction of the needle.
   • The 0, 90, 180, 270 numbers disappear as the levels get harder.

What the instructions don’t tell you is that, while your main goal should be to put the green scanner needle on the correct frequency, there is a “range” surrounding it in light blue! As long as you click when the frequency is within the blue range, it will be correct.

The range decreases and the speed of the needles increases with each level, so it becomes extremely difficult by the end! As you can see on the image to the left, we’ve illustrated the 4 needle sizes all on the same dial.

As you get to the higher levels in the Field Ops Mission, the numbers start disappearing as well! Here’s an image with all of the possible frequencies filled in so that you don’t have to guess or get stressed out trying to think of where a certain frequency is under pressure!

Take your time and make sure that you are targeting the right frequency. The worst mistake you can make is trying to match the wrong frequency, as it takes away one of the 3 chances that you have to make it through to the end. Strategy

In order to beat this game, you need to use our cheats and the following strategy. Armed with this information, you should be able to beat the mission in your first or second try!

1. Take your time - The mission isn’t timed!
   1. When the needle starts spinning, take a breath and monitor it.
   2. Some of the needles will change direction mid-sweep, so let it go all the way around at least once before matching the frequency!
2. Put your mouse pointer right next to the target frequency – This will help you pinpoint your click.
3. No mistakes in Level 1 and Level 2 – This gives you more chances when the needle shrinks and speeds up!
