Club Penguin Fixed – How to get Playing Sooner, Free Membership!

As nearly the whole world now knows, Disney forgot to renew the Clubpenguin.Com domain name last week, and ClubPenguin.Com has been down for many people for over 24 hours! This morning, we can confirm that Disney has renewed the domain name and that the information has been updated in the domain registry.

We’ve also noticed that they’ve registered the domain through June 13, 2020, so this won’t be a problem again for a very long time, and we can only hope that someone at Disney has set a reminder on their calendar sometime in May, 2020 to renew the domain!

Free 1-week membership

The are a number of scattered reports from various sources that tell us Club Penguin is offering compensation (at this time) on a case-by-case basis due to the outage. It appears that, if you contact them to complain about the outage, they will give you a week’s free membership extension to your Club Penguin membership. We’re not sure if this bonus membership applies to non-members, but we have heard from quite a number of users claiming to have been given a one-week extension of current members’ membership.

Many still can’t access Club Penguin

Depending on where you live and who your Internet provider is, you may already be back online and playing Club Penguin, but many people (myself included) still cannot access Club Penguin and are stuck on the golfer/clown page. This is because of the way the Internet works, and we won’t get too technical about it, but we’ll just say that it takes time for the information to get to the billions of people online. If you’re unsure about this, please ask one of your parents or older siblings to read this article and help you make the necessary changes.

Windows XP/Vista/7

STEP 1.

First, you will need to navigate to the Control Panel on your Windows computer. You will most likely need to be logged onto an administrator account or an account with permissions. You should ask the person who set up your computer to help you with this.

To open the Control Panel. Click on the Start Icon to open your start menu. You should then see Control Panel on the menu on the right!

Windows XP:

Windows Vista/Windows 7:

First you will need to go to the Control Panel.  Click the Network and Sharing Center icon and you should see the following depending on your Windows Version:

If you are on Windows Vista, you will need to click Manage Network Connections.
If you are on Windows 7 you will need to click Change Adapter Settings.

Windows XP/Vista users will arrive at the following screen.

You will need to select on your active internet connection. This will be the one with a green tick or green signal bar.

Right click your active connection and select “Properties” from the menu that appears.

You should have an adult or older sibling accompany you with the next few settings, as you could end up disconnecting you’re internet.

Step. 2

Windows 7 users will have arrived at this screen after clicking Change Adapter settings.

Windows XP/Vista users will arrive at this screen after clicking properties on their active internet connection.

You will now need to select the option which says

“Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”

after you select it, click Properties.

Step 3.

After you click Properties, you will see the following Window appear.

You will need to be careful about this step as you can disable your internet! Please do have someone who understands what they are doing help you with this step. If you are unsure, it is recommended you do not continue.

You should write down all the numbers on this page or take a screenshot of the current settings on your computer before making any changes.

You should not need to change the settings about the IP address.

Where you see use the following DNS Sever address, check the radio button. Then add the numbers.

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

If there are numbers in the boxes already, then write them down.

These are Google’s DNS Servers we are adding.

After that click OK, and then once again in the previous Window. If you’re internet connection doesn’t refresh you should manually refresh it.

You should now be able to logon to Club Penguin! It has worked for many people!

Fix for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard / Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6

We have figured out how to make it work on everyone’s computer by using Google’s free DNS servers! Follow these steps EXACTLY and you’ll be up and running on Club Penguin in no time! If you’re unsure about this, please ask one of your parents or older siblings to read this article and help you make the necessary changes.

1. Click the gears icon in the dock on the bottom to open up System Preferences.

2. Click on the “Network” Icon in the panel that opens.

3. Make sure that the “green dot” connection is selected (it probably already is) and then click “Advanced” on the bottom right.

4. Click the “DNS” tab at the top of the next panel.

5. On the LEFT window panel, click the “+” sign.

6. Enter 8.8.8.8 in the text box that appears and press enter/return.

7. The line will be highlighted in blue. Use your mouse and drag it to the top of the list of servers.

8. Click OK on the bottom right.

9. Click “Apply” on the bottom right.

10. Close the System Preferences Panel.

11. You’re done, load up Club Penguin! HOORAY!!!

Still having trouble?

If you’re worried about trying these changes, and still are getting the Network Solutions page to renew or order a domain, this just means that your Internet provider doesn’t have the new information about Club Penguin’s servers. You’ll need to wait an hour or two and try loading Club Penguin again.
